Quilting Placemat Class
Discover the basics of quilting while creating a beautiful placemat! This beginner-friendly class is a great introduction to quilting. You'll complete one placemat in class and receive enough fabric (with the Materials Included option) and detailed instructions to make a second matching placemat at home.

Skill Requirements
This class is suitable for confident beginners. Participants should be able to:
- Thread and set up a sewing machine independently
- Sew a consistent 1/4" & 1/2" seam allowance
- Sew straight seams
Meet Your Instructor
Lisa St. Marie
With over 30 years of quilting experience, Lisa has won awards at Quilt Canada, Canada's national quilt show, and has been featured in The Canadian Quilter magazine. Her quilts have been juried into major exhibitions throughout the United States and sold across North America. Lisa has taught both traditional quilting and collage quilting for many years and is passionate about sharing her love of quilting with others.

Materials Options
Materials Included
We'll provide all of the 100% cotton quilting fabric needed for your project. Fabric colours and prints will be preselected for you.
Bring Your Own Materials
If you prefer to choose your own fabrics, please bring the following 100% cotton quilting fabrics. Make sure to press your materials flat before the class.
Fabric Requirements (Makes 2 Placemats)
You'll need 6 fabrics total:
- 5 coordinating fabrics ranging from light to dark for the quilt blocks (one of these will also be used as the backing)
- 1 coordinating fabric for the border
Purchase:
- Backing/block fabric – 0.6 m
- Four additional block fabrics – 0.1 m each
- Border fabric – 0.2 m
During class, you'll complete one placemat and receive printed instructions to help you create the second matching placemat at home.

Cancellations & Refunds
🧾 Cancellation & Refund Policy – Sewing Classes
We understand that plans can change. However, due to limited class sizes and advance preparation, the following cancellation policy applies to all sewing classes and courses.
Payment & Deposits
- Full payment is required at the time of registration.
- 50% of your total payment is considered a non-refundable deposit that secures your spot in the class.
- Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable under all circumstances.
Cancellations (Single Classes & Courses)
- 14 or more days before the start date:
You may cancel and receive a refund of any amount paid beyond the 50% deposit. Or transfer your session to another date.
Example: If paid in full, you will receive a 50% refund. - 7–13 days before the start date:
No refunds are available. However, you may receive a credit for the remaining 50% (excluding the deposit) to be used toward a future class. - Less than 7 days before the start date:
No refunds or credits can be issued. Materials and preparation have already been allocated.
You may transfer your spot to a friend or family member at no additional cost.
Bundle & Multi-Week Enrollments
For multi-session or bundled registrations (e.g. 12-week programs), this policy applies per unstarted section.
The initial deposit remains non-refundable.
Missed Classes
- Refunds or credits cannot be offered for missed classes.
- If space allows, we will do our best to offer a make-up session or a discounted seat in a future class, but this is not guaranteed.
Need More Studio Time?
Need extra time to sew or practice between classes? Add a Sew It Goes Studio Membership for access to machines, tools, and workspace during open-studio hours. Perfect if you don’t have a home sewing setup or want extra studio time to experiment and perfect your designs.
Sewing Club Membership
For individuals seeking additional sewing hours for their courses or a fully equipped studio for their sewing needs.
