In this 4-week Intermediate Sewing Course, you'll create a beautiful Ruffled Blouse from start to finish. Perfect for sewists who have completed a beginner project or feel confident sewing basic garments, this class will introduce you to intermediate garment-making techniques in a supportive, small-group environment.

📍 Course Details

  • Course Length: 4 weeks (3.5 hours per week)
  • Skill Level: Intermediate (completed 2 and successfully sewn another beginner project)
  • Location: Sew It Goes Studio – 20 Kitchener Ave, London, ON
  • Class Size: 4 students max

  • 4wk course: Sundays – June 28, July 5, 12, 19
  • Time: 1pm - 4:30pm

đź§µ Materials

If you selected BRING YOUR OWN MATERIALS - Students are responsible for bringing:

  • Cotton or cotton-linen woven fabric (no stretch & Light to medium weight)
  • SIZE: 0-10 
    • 45"wide fabric: 2.3 M
    • 58" wide fabric: 2.3 M
  • SIZE: 12 - 22
    • 45"wide fabric: 2.8 M
    • 58" wide fabric: 2.5 M
  • SIZE: 24 - 28 
    • 45"wide fabric: 3.3 M
    • 58" wide fabric: 2.5 M
  • Tip:  Don't choose any fabric that is too light weight (chiffon) or too thick (stiff linen or denim). Look at a cotton broad cloth or eyelet fabric for thickness reference. 
  • Matching thread

Before the first class:

  • Machine wash and dry fabric on hot settings
  • Obtain measurements and decide on Blouse Size

We provide:

  • Pattern
  • Interfacing
  • Use of studio sewing machines and tools

If you selected “Materials Included” when signing up, we’ll have everything prepared and ready for you when you arrive.

✂️ Recommended for Home Sewing

Fabric scissors, pins, chalk, and access to a sewing machine are recommended for at-home portions of the course.

If you don’t have equipment at home, we offer a sewing membership at Sew It Goes Studio that gives you access to studio machines and light instructor guidance during designated hours.


📚 What to Expect Each Week

Before Week 1

  • Wash and dry fabric
  • Choose your size

Week 1: Cutting, Prepping, Assemble Ruffles

In Class:

  • Trace and cut paper pattern pieces
  • Cut fabric for front/back, plackets, ruffles, collars, sleeves
  • Assemble ruffles

At Home:

  • Complete any unfinished cutting or sewing

Week 2: Main body, ruffles & Plackets

In Class:

  • Assemble main body
  • Apply ruffle and button placket
  • Begin collar ruffle application

At Home:

  • Finish Collar Assembly 

Week 3: Collars & Sleeves

  • Apply Collar to neckline
  • Bind neckline
  • Begin assembling sleeve

At Home:

  • Finish sleeves at home, pin or sew onto body

Week 4: Button, button holes, hem

  • Finish Hem
  • Apply Buttons & Button Holes

Missed Classes & Makeup Policy

We understand that life happens. Makeup sessions are not included in your course package, However, you can makeup missed time in our Membership nights (Saturday or Sunday evenings).

If you’d like the option for additional sewing time and assistance we encourage you to explore our Sewing Club membership for extended studio access.

Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellations & Refunds

🧾 Cancellation & Refund Policy – Sewing Classes

We understand that plans can change. However, due to limited class sizes and advance preparation, the following cancellation policy applies to all sewing classes and courses.

Payment & Deposits

  • Full payment is required at the time of registration.
  • 50% of your total payment is considered a non-refundable deposit that secures your spot in the class.
  • Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable under all circumstances.

Cancellations (Single Classes & Courses)

  • 14 or more days before the start date:
    You may cancel and receive a refund of any amount paid beyond the 50% deposit. Or transfer your session to another date.

    Example: If paid in full, you will receive a 50% refund.
  • 7–13 days before the start date:
    No refunds are available. However, you may receive a credit for the remaining 50% (excluding the deposit) to be used toward a future class.
  • Less than 7 days before the start date:
    No refunds or credits can be issued. Materials and preparation have already been allocated.

    You may transfer your spot to a friend or family member at no additional cost.

Bundle & Multi-Week Enrollments
For multi-session or bundled registrations (e.g. 12-week programs), this policy applies per unstarted section.

The initial deposit remains non-refundable.

Missed Classes

  • Refunds or credits cannot be offered for missed classes.
  • If space allows, we will do our best to offer a make-up session or a discounted seat in a future class, but this is not guaranteed.

Need More Studio Time?

Need extra time to sew or practice between classes? Add a Sew It Goes Studio Membership for access to machines, tools, and workspace during open-studio hours. Perfect if you don’t have a home sewing setup or want extra studio time to experiment and perfect your designs.
